26 February, 2009 - 06:30 pm
IST

ThoughtWorks Bangalore invited Sean Blagsvedt, the founder of BabaJob, to talk us to on setting up a social mobile application. Babajob.com is an online venture that connects employers and informal sector workers. Babjobs provides a viaable solution to fundamentally address poverty.

Its the Monster and LinkedIn for a niche (80% of the poorest population of India, a segment of population that is rarely being focused on). Babajob is a "Purple Cow" (Seth Godin), a remarkable business with strong socio economic implications.

Sean started with an investment of Rs 1 crore. Although the returns have been quite nominal so far, he feels the future is quite bright in the informal job sector. The site registers about 25,000 unique visitors a month.
