Background

ThoughtWorks has always been a strong supporter of emerging technologies that carry the potential to revolutionize the software industry. Ruby is one such technology.

In our effort to stay aligned and connected with the Ruby community, in the past, ThoughtWorks has actively participated in and sponsored Ruby events across the globe. We hire some of the best Ruby developers and execute some exciting projects on this platform. Ola Bini himself is an active Ruby Activist and contributor to the JRuby project.

India, and Bangalore in particular, has a strong Ruby community in which ThoughtWorkers are active participants. Keeping this in mind, and in an endeavour to build ThoughtWorks' brand image in India as well as attract talent, ThoughtWorks will be hosting RubyConf India in 2010 in association with RubyCentral.

Spread over 2 days, RubyConf India 2010, will offer Ruby enthusiasts an opportunity to meet the key people in the Ruby community and learn about the latest technology changes first-hand. An emerging technology that promises to revolutionize the way software is developed, Ruby is an open source, cross-platform dynamic programming language that runs natively on Linux, Windows and Mac OSX as well as on the Java and .Net platforms as JRuby and IronRuby respectively. It offers an ideal development environment for Agile practitioners with one of the most active open source communities worldwide which produce and support tools and projects like “Ruby on Rails” - a powerful web application development framework that works well on different platforms, and significantly reduces time-to-market and operating costs.

Featuring keynote addresses and talks by the likes of Chad Fowler author of “The Passionate Programmer” and Ola Bini core committer of JRuby, RubyConf India 2010 promises to be an exciting opportunity for Ruby aficionados to brainstorm, network, share information on the latest trends and developments in Ruby and deepen their expertise in the field. Judging from the success and popularity of similar Ruby Conferences in the past, RubyConf India 2010 is likely to be sold out within the first few days of opening.
