The Banyan Tree Series with Ranjit Gadgil
ThoughtWorks Pune invited Ranjit Gadgil, a former contestant on the Lead India competition by Times of India to give us an interactive talk. He is the Programme Director of Janwani, the citizens initiative of the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, and has been involved with issues like citizens rights, traffic and transportation problems, to name a few.
Ranjit spoke about his latest efforts to bring sustainable traffic and transportation solutions to Pune. His talk focused on four parts of the the traffic problem in Pune: mobility crisis, health crisis, safety crisis, and a quality of life crisis. On his agenda, is Pune city's effort to replicate Bogota's Transmillenia - the BRT and the challenges it is currently facing. He wanted the citizens of Pune to be engaged in the discussion and help create a sustainable solution to Pune's traffic problem.
